I want to tell you about an amazing trip that I have been selected for in order to help raise funds for Hendon’s newest and most dynamic Jewish centre, the Chabad House of Hendon. This is a highly unusual journey to the Arfican Mountains where we will be based in the mountain village of Arushah. After our initial orientation we will be setting out on a 3-4 day trek covering some 60 miles after which we will return for a Shabbat of relaxation and meditation. It will be a fantastic adventure as well as a great opportunity for members of our community and others to bond in an unprecedented way.

For the past two years Chabad House of Hendon has constantly scaled new heights in the spiritual journey of Jewish London. Some 500 people come through the Chabad House every week for classes, services, Friday night dinners and of course just to meet people and schmooz. Then there are the special events, guest speakers, parties and seminars. The Simchas Beis Hashoeva last sukkot attracted some 800 people to the streets of Hendon with dancing and celebration.

In short Chabad is really changing people’s lives for the good by answering the strong need in the community for an exciting, non-judgemental, warm and inspiring centre for Jewish people young and old.
