On the 29th of August 2008, two intrepid cyclists and a support driver departed Scotland for sunny France. Alas, they were all hard at work raising money for Down's Syndrome - this wasn't no holiday folks!

Keith Ferguson and Ernie McVey cycled the entire coast to coast distance from Zeebrugge to Marseille over 12 days. Grant Cairns & Julie Taylor provided vehicle support, managed accommodation, and dealt with the water and food stops.

Just to make the trip that little bit more interesting, the dynamic duo added the Mont Ventoux ascent to the trip - that’s right, the really steep, gruelling one from the Tour De France!

They did this in aid of a fantastic cause - Down's Syndrome. Down's Syndrome Scotland works to improve the quality of life and maximise the potential of everyone with Down's syndrome in Scotland by offering advice, support and information from a team of specialist staff. Down's Syndrome is the most common form of learning disability occurring in about 1 in 1000 births.

This was a bit of an epic ride, and took months of planning, training and constant effort... and that was before we had even left for France yet!   Please be generous!
