Story
Yet again, a big thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraising, enabling young people to enjoy a week at an Over The Wall camp! ![]()

At the end of August 2008, we trekked in three of the highest mountain ranges of Romania’s famed Transylvanian Alps (Făgăraş Mountains) in a small region of the country, rich in tradition and myths. We visited the 14th century Romanian icon, Dracula’s Castle
, which was renovated in the 19th century by the royal family of Romania. The Bucegi Mountains are rich in heathen mythological symbols, Piatra Craiului ‘The King’s Rock’ National Park is home to the Carpathian Large Carnivore Project (protecting wolves, lynx and bears
). Nearly every day, we trekked to over 2,400m, on steep mountain paths, needing all our mental and physical strength
. It was a challenging (T managed to get lost!), yet very rewarding (T was found again!), expedition.
We raised money since our trek to Cuba in February 2007:
7 Quizzes - thanks to: our resident question-setters and quizmasters, Ross and Gareth; our marker, Shirley; our hall-decorators, Nick and Patricia; all those who've helped with ticket-selling and clearing up; and, most importantly, all our loyal quizzers. T jumped in twice as quizmaster, once also having a go at question-setting! - £1,415.45
4 Horse Shows - we manned the gate(s) and parked cars, horse boxes and lorries for Matfield & District Riders Association (MDRA) shows. Thanks to the MDRA Committee and their competitors and visitors who donated - £659.52
Special Birthday Party - Thanks very much to Gerry and her generous guests for donating to our cause - £184.00
Mothers Union (MU) Talk - In June 2007, we both presented and showed a short film about Over The Wall (OTW) and displayed photos of a few of our treks. Thanks to the Tunbridge Wells branch of MU for listening to us and donating - £38.00
Barn Dance - in 2007, for the fourth Autumn in a row, we held this enjoyable evening. Thanks very much to: Melanie for organising everything; Monica and John for the catering; and, again, all our loyal supporters!
General Offline Sponsorship - we raised - £1012
Thank you!
