At the end of august I am flying to Chamonix in the French Alps to run in the hardest single stage ultra race in Europe the Tour Du Mont Blanc.
The race is 155 Km (100 Miles) long with 8500 Metres of ascent (8 ½ times up Snowdon) and a time limit of 45 hours.
The race circles Mont Blanc the highest mountain in Europe (4810m) and crosses three different countries, France, Italy and Switzerland.
The course combines climbing ten big passes with night running over mountains in the cold and day running in temperatures in the 30's.
Last year there were 1450 runners who started the race of these only 420 completed the full course within the cut off time.
