Story
I'm going to cycle from London to Paris (300 miles, in case you're wondering!) Why? I'm 51 years old (I turn 52 during this event and haven’t been on a bike in years – so it’s not going to be easy. But, yes, I am already training hard(ish)
The reason is simple. Many children in Zambia walk up to ten miles in blazing heat with no shoes, along dirt tracks – often starting the day with no food – just to get to school. They realise how important education is. Well, the very nice people at The U Foundation (friends of mine) are - among other things - trying to raise £100,000 to put up solid brick buildings as part of a nursery project.
Funds will be helping Chiwawatala Middle Basic School, a nursery in Mfuwe, and the Siankaba nursery near Livingstone. Wooden poles and thatch replaced by brick, along with play areas, toilets and kitchen area giving the children at least one nutritious meal each day.
So, by sponsoring me, not only will you be helping those kids with education, food, and a bit of fun. But you will ALSO be sending me 300 miles away from where you are!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The U Foundation Ltd will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I really do appreciate it. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Many thanks for your support.
Best wishes,
Drew
