Let me tell you a bit about the Drive For Zoe.
The date -
Starts on Sunday 15 June 2008
Expected date of return
Its likely to be Sunday 29 or Monday 30 June 2008, depending on a lot of variables - the weather, ferries, and how well TYN 150 behaves!
The car
Is my 50 year old Morgan Plus 4 (see the photo left)
The Challenge
To drive round all 39 offices of the Brewin Dolphin Group. These range from Inverness in the North, to the Channel Islands in the South, as well as across to Belfast. The journey is expected to last for up to two weeks.
I will be joined by four friends as co-drivers for roughly three day stints each, they are:-
Hugh Brown from Edinburgh
Aly Hunter from Kirkliston
Hugh McMinn from North Berwick
Simon Scott from Barry
Why am I doing it?
Sharon King, Zoe’s mother, has worked in our company for many years and, having witnessed this tragedy, I decided I wanted to help Sharon and John continue with Zoe’s work for Teenage Cancer Trust. Clearly Zoe was a very special person, being able to do so much for TCT as well as study and play her music, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends
Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity dedicated to helping teenagers fight cancer. Zoe had been fighting cancer for three years and had been treated at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. The staff are fantastic but the facilities aren't appropriate for teenagers.
Cancer is the most common cause of death at this age. Incidence rates are now higher in teenagers and young adults than in children, yet survival rates fall behind those of children and older adults. Teenage Cancer Trust exists to ensure that teenagers and young adults are diagnosed efficiently, treated effectively, and have the support they need to make it through their treatment and rebuild their lives after cancer.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Teenage Cancer Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Funds from the Drive For Zoe will be used to help teenagers treated in Edinburgh fight cancer.
Many thanks for your support.
