Marie Curie Driving Challenge, Ingliston (Edinburgh) 17th October 2004
The Challenge: there are four driving challenges, each with a difference category of vehicle. I'm not sure exactly what will be available on the day, but the examples Marie Curie gave are driving an HGV round an obstacle course, doing high-speed turns in a police car and parking odd vehicles. Sounds like fun!
Here's the serious bit though. I'm taking part in this driving challenge for Marie Curie Cancer Care to help provide nurses to people dying of cancer. I've lost several relatives to cancer and there's very little that could be done for them in the last few days other than trying to keep them as comfortable as possible, giving them the chance to die with dignity. Marie Curie nurses give people the chance to be at home rather than in hospital, and provide support to the families too.
