The Prince's Trust Palace to Palace 2016 · 2 October 2016 ·

The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

Last year I cycled approximately 80 miles for the British Heart Foundation - London to Brighton (off-road) with my friends. It's was very tough but I did it! My motivation was to support a great charity and also challenge myself.  I had a great team with my son Arjan helping me with my bike preparation, including pumping the tyres on my training rides - not bad at age 2!  This year I'm participating in a team ride with my work colleagues.  It's a 90 mile circuit and again Arjan is supporting me on to get me ready for 2nd October 2016.  I riding on my first road cycle so it's all new but at the same time should be a lot quicker than my original intention of using my mountain bike. I think it's really important to give young people opportunities in life - I certainly had some people showing a real interest in me which gave me a good start.  Unfortunately, not everyone is so fortunate so I think the princes trust is just one of the good ways to contribute.  When Arjan is a bit older I'm sure we'll ride together, Team Jutla here we come :).
