Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Hello! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I have a big list of things I want to tick off during my life and running a marathon is one of them. I've been putting it off as the training seemed a bit daunting (!) but I've finally got my arse into gear and I'm fully focussed on my first marathon.   I am running for the Motor Neurone Disease Association; doing it for a friend whose father passed away from MND. It is clear that more research is desperately needed to gain a greater understanding and ultimately a cure for this disease, which wastes the muscles causing a loss of the mobility we all take for granted, especially in sport.   I've had help and guidance from Ollie Gavin who is also running again this year (http://www.justgiving.com/yardleymarathonrunners) but I'm not expecting to keep up with him as he's had a lot more practice!  My training is going well and I'm getting closer to the race distance every day.   Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Motor Neurone Disease Association gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. So please sponsor me now!
