My story
Tickets on sale now! Fundraising evening at Bowdon Rooms - Friday 24th February - £27.50 per person for 80s night - food, drink, partying! Sign up now.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page. Johnny Kelsey, Paul Wallis and myself Duncan Dickinson are going to run the London marathon this year. And then this particular mid life crisis will be over! This means drinking less beer and eating less pies in the months ahead. We are raising money for the Institute of Orthopaedics in Oswestry.
We are highly conscious that it is an Olympic year and the eyes of the world will be on us on a sunny spring Sunday London morning, in late April. We'll go out with the Kenyans and then let our fitness training (honed on the banks of the Bridgewater canal) kick in, before relying on a turn of speed that woud make Brendan Foster weep.
You probably get many requests for support for charities but as many of you will know us, hopefully you can sense the pathetic optimism of our Olympean challenge and support us in our dream to complete the marathon in this special year.
We are having a fundraiser event on Friday 24 Feb at the Bowdon Rooms. It will be an 80s night, disco, live band and food - £27.50 a ticket and all money goes to the charity. All of Alty and Hale's finest will be there, plus our mates. It should be a fantastic night and all you have to do is make the donation on here and you will have your ticket on the door. Many Thanks.
My charity
Institute of Orthopaedics Medical Research - Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital
Charity Registration No. 1044906
The Institute of Orthopaedics, the research and teaching unit of the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital at Oswestry, Shropshire has a national and international reputation and is very much regarded as a Centre of Excellence. The 2010 Virgin London Marathon will have 37 runners supporting the Institute and funds will be raised for medical research at the hospital which will be utilised to fund innovative research projects. Raising funds in the present economic climate is exceptionally difficult and all monies received will be much appreciated.
