Lands End to John O'Groats · 23 June 2006

Street Child Africa provides holistic support to vulnerable children and young people: preventing children growing up on the streets; meeting the needs of children living and working on the streets; and providing opportunities for children to access a positive future through education & training.

Story

"Chaffed but Chuffed"

1,016 miles in 15-1/2 days.  That's 65 miles a day.

I confess to moments of despair - buckled back wheel, saddle snapping off (twice) and a meat pie in Tesco's cafe just off the A9 near Inverness as the sky closed in.

But these were always outweighed by the beautiful places we saw and people we met - Police Officer Mark Robarts of the Barnstaple Constabulary offering support beyond the call of duty, the lovely Janet who runs the finest cafe in all of Hawick and Gillian, the country's most patient B&B host.

And through it all, there was Chis.  My cycling partner, friend and roommate, without whom most of it wouldn't have been possible - which is largely a good thing (see www.justgiving.com/parsonsfamily)

So, I have absolutely no compunction in still asking for donations in huge amounts from anyone out there who has not yet contributed.  This web site will remain open for a while - although possibly not as long as it takes for the mental and physical scars to heal.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Street Child Africa will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

And a BIG thank you for all those who have already supported us.
