RESULT: I completed the 100+ miles for Parkinson's with a sub-2hours time in the Chippenham Half Marathon (1:59:23 chip-to-chip). Full results here: http://bit.ly/L5cSX. Thanks to all my sponsors!
It's nearly a year since my Grandfather was diagnosed with Parkinson's and 40 years since the Parkinsons Disease Society started working to support people like him, their families, carers, and the scientists trying to beat this disease.
So many go the extra mile for people with Parkinson's and this year that's exactly what I'm trying to do. I was truly touched by the generosity of my friends and supporters earlier this year when we raised over £2,000 (including Gift Aid) at the Bath Half Marathon. Thank you!
Over the next few weeks I hope to climb, walk and run over 100 miles for Parkinson's, in three parts on just 7 days:
i) climb Ben Nevis (Britain's highest peak) - 1 day walking over 12 miles
ii) walk the Great Glen Way (from Fort William to Inverness) - 76 miles over the next 5 days; and
iii) finish by running the Chippenham Half Marathon - 13.1 miles on Sunday 13th September.
So, now I'm asking you to do your bit, and please be as generous as you can. Thank you.
Duncan
PS: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
