Story
Thank
you for visiting my Project Brazil 2010 fundraising page.
There's been a bit of a change of plan. As I was unable to take part in the South Africa Project, I have now transferred over to a similar project in Brazil, later this year.
Project Brazil 2010 is run by the Bobby Moore fund for Cancer research UK.
As part of the project, I will travel to Brazil, in Sepetember 2010, and be part of a team that will restore a community school (Escola Veredas) in the remote village of Bandeira, in the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park. This project has been developed in partnership with the local population and has resulted from the work previously carried out by a group of Bobby Moore Fund volunteers in 2005. The work that that group completed in 2005 gave children and adults the chance to continue to be educated amidst their families and community. As a result of the work carried out by the Bobby Moore Fund volunteers, attendance at the school has rocketed, which has left them with too many students for the classrooms and facilities. Older children are still having to leave the village and be educated far away, which results in them often staying away and not returning home to their families when they finish their education. This has a severe impact on the local community. By extending building new classrooms and improving the facilities the school has to offer, it will enable students to stay at home and be educated near their families, rather than being obliged to move away.
The funds raised will go towards the project and will also be used to research bowel cancer in the UK, so by donating you are helping 2 great causes.
I am looking to raise at least £4000, so any donations, no matter how big or small will make a difference and be gratefully received.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Many thanks, Dylan
