*Draw now over! Any money donated will continue to the SCBU, but you do not stand chance to win anything by donating any more!*
If you're here, you've likely seen the prize details (from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Dangleberry-Music/Online-Sellers-Competition.html). Please check back there if not!
All that remains is to explain why we're doing this....
This is our story. Its not designed to make you feel you have to donate, merely to let you know why this cause is so important to us.
The twins were born 6 weeks early by emergency caesarean, and when Sam was born he couldn't breathe. The quick actions of the SCBU/Maternity staff on hand in the theatre established that his windpipe was blocked with a large mucus bung. They remained professional and calm, cleared it in the nick of time and resuscitated him.
Both the twins were then whizzed off to the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) - which turned into a 2 week stay. In particular this was to monitor Sam for brain swelling which sometimes occurs during traumatic births.
The staff both in theatre, and on the unit were AMAZING and we'll always be indebted to them. We were fortunate that there was a room available for us to stay in down the corridor from the unit - some people aren't so lucky.
Now the SCBU are trying to raise £80,000 to improve facilities and rather than the usual live music event, this year we thought we'd jump out of a perfectly operational aeroplane instead (in addition to this design competition!)
The money will be used to try and improve the facilities to make what is a stressful and frankly quite horrible time, a little more bearable for all involved.
Please donate what you can - as Tesco say - Every little helps :-)
