The event is a dragon boat race at the Marlow Regatta. We've got ten trusty oars-people and Percy (our drummer). Being a big Led Zepplin fan, we anticipate his drumming will ensure we win all races and maybe throw in a few water-skiing displays at the same time.
As it's Dragon Boat racing and we're in the Chinese Year of the Dog, we thought we'd call ourselves the Ear of the Dog out of respect for our own little Ellie. We will be dressed in dog masks for the duration of the event, with one ear missing. We're hoping the RSPCA don't think we've asked too much of Ellie!

Basically CHASE is a children's hospice service that exists to provide help and support to families with children and young people who are not expected to live past their nineteenth birthday. The journey these families share with CHASE can continue from diagnosis of the child's life-limiting condition, through to bereavement and beyond.
Our service is flexible, practical and holistic, with the focus on making every day count. We have a community care team which go into the homes twenty four hours a day, 365 days of the year to offer whatever support is required. We also have an amazingly inspiring children's hospice in Guildford called Christopher's. It has 9 bedrooms and is designed to provide a home from home environment. The whole family can stay together for a break, or the life limited child can enjoy some independent respite, while the remainder of the family benefits from a rest elsewhere. It also offers opportunities for many forms of psychotherapy, physiotherapy and support groups for the whole family including siblings and grandparents.
We currently support 254 families and it costs us £3.2 million a year to run CHASE. With no government funding we rely totally on general charitable donation and start every year with nought.
