Story

Help our charity, the Maidstone Museums’ Foundation, to raise money by sponsoring us to abseil down the side of Fremlin Walk on 26 March 2011.

A group of intrepid Maidstone Borough Council staff will be launching themselves down a 100ft wall to raise money for Maidstone Musuem's East Wing Extension.

Ten brave borough council staff, known as the Maidstone Museum East Wingers, will be donning helmets, zip wires and fancy dress to help raise cash for the cause.

The museum was established in 1855 and the new East Wing extension is set to be one of the most exciting developments in the museum’s history.

We have enough money from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the council to pay for the bricks and mortar for the new East Wing; what we don’t have is enough money to decorate and fit out the internal rooms and galleries.
