Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Motor neurone disease (MND) is a rare condition caused by the breakdown of the nerve cells in the brain that control the muscles. Unfortunately there is currently no cure, and life expectancy will be affected depending on how symptoms progress. However, research is underway to understand the causes, and develop a cure.

MND is a disease that gets worse over time. It affects the muscles that you use to move (voluntary muscles). Nerves dealing with feeling to the skin aren’t affected, so there is no numbness or pins and needles. Parts of the brain dealing with intelligence and awareness are not affected.

Kills 5 people ever day in the UK, leaves people unable to walk, talk or feed themselves. Life expectancy is between 2 and 5 years.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Motor Neurone Disease Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

BIG Regards
