Story
With your help, I've raised £148.00 online for Asda Foundation. Here's a quick report of how the day went...
Suffice it to say that it rained. A lot. We were all totally soaked through by the end of it, which made the whole thing even harder. Then the winds made me feel freezing, so I had to wear five layers to keep warm, and a silly woolen hat too. I looked a right idiot, but then again, I can't say I've ever seen a hiker who doesn't look silly...
All the rain meant we were all carrying even more weight. Which makes the sense of achievement even greater. I managed the 25 mile course in 11 hours, 35 minutes. It was bloody hard work, and the net result today is aching thighs and sore toes, but I'm still able to walk... to a certain extent anyway!
The ground was muddy, boggy and rocky... as you'd expect out in the middle of nowhere, but it made the whole thing very tricky. Fortunately I managed to remain on my feet throughout, avoiding the inevitable embarrassment of falling on my arse in the mud, but others weren't so lucky.
Sadly, the poor conditions meant most of the photos I took were either rubbish because there's nothing remotely interesting about a group of people standing in thick fog, or ended up all blurry because of water on the camera lens, but either way I'll try and stick some of them up on Facebook. I was assured by other walkers who'd done the course before that the views are spectacular, but I could barely see 5 metres. Oh well, there's always next year!
Overall though, it was a great day. I'm really pleased that through your generosity I've managed to raise so much money. I know my charity will really appreciate it.
Thank you very much for your support.
Eddie
