ONE MAN’S CYCLE CHALLENGE FOR CANCER RESEARCH
I am a man who likes a challenge and have decided to cycle from the UK to Spain covering 1100 miles in 10 days, averaging 110 miles a day in extremely hot conditions (35-40 degrees).
My reasons for attempting this challenge is because I lost a friend and colleague to cancer, who was a very active sportsman and only 33 years of age (Royal Navy PTI). There is an annual triathlon that takes place in his honour. My personal tribute to him is to do this cycle ride. A number of my colleagues have also recently been affected by this dreadful disease.
I hope to raise between £2,000 - £3,000 for Cancer Research . With your help I can achieve my goal and you will also be helping Cancer Research UK achieve theirs in having cancer under control within 2 generations, 1 in 3 people will develop cancer at some point in their lives.
I plan to start my challenge on the 31st July 2007, departing RNAS Yeovilton to Portsmouth Ferry Terminal. Arriving at St Malo on the morning of August 1st, I will head south, through France, accross thr Pyrenees and into Spain, arriving in Javea (Xabia) on the 9th August.
