Story
In November I will be taking part in Escape from Meriden. The challenge is to get as far, as the crow flies, from Meriden (the centre of England), on foot within 24 hours. My aim is to get as close to home as possible. The distances are measured as the crow flies so 90 miles would mean around 120 miles on my planned route.
During the event no support is provided by them, you make your own route, provide your own food/ drink and just go as much as possible. I will be hopefully roping in friends/family to help out keeping me sane and with supplies en route but the running and walking will be done solely by me.
The reason I am putting myself through this it to raise as much money as I can for Alzheimers Research UK. As some reading may know I have lost both Grandparents on my mum's side to vascular dementia in the past few years. The goal of Alzheimers Research UK is to bring about the first life changing dementia treatment by 2025 so every penny will go a long way towards this. Hopefully in the future families will not have to go through what mine have.
UPDATE 2/11/2020
So as the country is now in lockdown the event has been cancelled, as an alternative I will be attempting the distance by running 20 mile loops from home within 24 hours.
