Story

Hitch hike completed!!

Hello Everyone

As promised here is a brief write up of the hitch hike.

More than anything else I would like to say thank you to everyone that has sponsored James and myself, and to all those along the way that helped us get from Cardiff to Morocco.

Friday 31 March (Cardiff - Plymouth)
Having slept through their alarms after one too many G+T's the night before, Ethel and Hide (a.k.a James and Ed) set off for Morocco.  The Wales and Englang legs went extremely smoothly.  By the middle of the afternoon the grannies had reached Plymouth port.  Many thanks goes to our drivers in Wales and England:
1) Dave
2) Paul
3) Matt - the man that totally changed our route!!  Hope the wedding went well.  Congratulations
4) Alan Wildeman
5) Dave Davies.

With a few hours to kill before their 11pm sailing, Ehtel and Hide headed to the local pub for 'a bit of a sit down.'  We would like to say a huge thank you to Marrion, Jim and all the drinkers at the Sippers Inn, who raised £100 for Link Communty Development.

Saturday 1 April (Roscoff - Cholet)
Ethel and Hide made steady progress on their first day in France.

Cedric - Thank you so much. You really saved us.
Matthieu and Yannick - Thank you for your hospitality.  We will never forget our stay in Cholet.

Sunday 2 April (Cholet - Riberac)

Kathy
- Thank you for having us.  We had a wonderful evening.

Monday 3 April (Perigueux - Bordeaux - French/Spanish border)
Having waited at the roadsise for 5 hours Ethel and Hide eventually made it to Bordeaux.  It was at this point that Ethel and Hide's hitching days came to an end.  They were carefully packed away into the carpet bag.  By night fall we had reached the border.

Tuesday 4 April  (Border - Madrid - Malaga)
In just two lifts and in less than 24 hours we managed to travel the length of Spain.

Laurient - Thank you for the lift.  We really enjoyed our journey to Madrid
Sami - Thank you.  Shukran.

Wednesday 5 April (Malaga - Algeciras - Morocco )
Three lifts later we arrived at the port of Algericas and crossed to Morocco.  The hitch was complete.
