Story
I burnt myself several years ago and ended up having to have a couple of operations and now some unfortunate scars.
Thankfully I had my mum and all my family looking after me through out this time and my friends supporting me.
It was only really after this that I became aware of the amount of people who end up burning and scalding themselves every year and the effects this has on their lives.
Nearly 50% of children admitted to hospital have been burnt by a hot drink. A burn injury is for life. Being burned or scalded as a child means years of painful treatment and in the worst cases hundreds of operations to release the scar tissue as they grow. The psychological impact of a burn injury is also immense, particularly when burn survivors reach their teenage years and have to cope with self image and self confidence issues.
These burns ended up scarring most of my lower legs and I still feel discomfort today. I am not the fittest of people but on April 18th I will be running the Brighton marathon in aid of this charity!
Please donate as much as you can to aid this small charity to help and improve the lives of these children forever. If you would like to read any further information please visit the below website.
Thanks,
Ed
