In May, June and July 2011 I will be cycling from St Petersburg to London to raise money for Cancer Research.
The decision was inspired by my sister Rowena, who bravely battled cancer and then abseiled down Guy's Hospital in London to earn over £1000 for the charity
Cycling back was already something I'd considered for fun - alongside canoing along the Danube or buying a Lada - but Rowena's fundraising gave the idea extra momentum.
Plus, now I've bought a bike and braved Moscow's roads it would be silly not to do it.
The epic journey, a mere 3500km, not including the home stretch from Dover to Bookham should be done in about 2 months. The route will take me along Euro-route 1, part of the Eurovelo project..
