In 2007 Ed and Jerome Condry were part of a team that cycled to Rome and raised over £140,000 for Canterbury Cathedral and 20 other charities. In 2008 they rowed the English Channel and raised £20,000 for the Cathedral and Odyssey.

This year they are seeking your generous support for the Cathedral as they row the length of the Thames from Lechlade to London. The distance is 140 miles and they will take 4 days, accompanied once more by a magnificent support team providing fruit cake, bananas, and energy drinks.

This time they are travelling in the Lady Mayoress, a beautiful hand built boat called a shallop. This is an eight-oared, fixed-seat gig, built once more by Mark Edwards master boat builder of Richmond. It is a replica of an early Thames craft, common until the eighteeenth century, and is used frequently in filming and in historical reconstructions. The photograph on the left shows it in the full luxurious version complete with canopy and velvet cushions, and therefore two fewer oars. No such luxuries will be allowed on this trip!

Being generously sponsored is a tremendous incentive to train as well as to complete the journey. It certainly made a huge difference when we were crossing the Alps on our bicycles, or when we were in the middle fo the Channel.

Thank you for your support once more.
