Story

Hello lovely people! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

On the 6th June of this year, I abseiled down Guy's Hospital Tower in London. Its 469 ft high (143m if you prefer), 34 storeys and the equivalent height of 36 double deckers buses stacked on top of each other. Its really very high!
For those who dont know me so well, I'm a bit of a chicken when it comes to things like this, in fact the prospect of a trip to Alton Towers fill me with sheer unadulterated terror.

But I did it! I dressed like Spiderman, I stood at the top, felt my stomach churn, my heart drop and then I had to step off the edge. It was a long way down which felt like it lasted forever but apparently was about 5 minutes (I think I was lost in a terror-fuelled space time continuam!)

Please sponsor me as I raise money for the Karen Shaw Fund (blurb below) to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. My mum got diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and whilst all is looking good for the future, it has emphasised how common a disease this is and how important it is to try and support research into the most common type of cancer in the UK.

Guy's and St Thomas' have recently received approval from the Trust Breast Tissue Bank Access Committee to use £18,000 from the Karen Shaw Fund to help create, study and digitally archive special research resources called Tissue Microarrays. These allow experiments to be conducted on many hundreds of breast cancer research specimens at the same time. The team at Guy's will be able to collaborate with international and national research groups in trying to find new diagnostic tests and targets for breast cancer treatments.

Guy's and St Thomas' Charity, and in Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Guy's and St. Thomas' Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now! Thank you!
