EDUCATION FOR ALL MOROCCO

An educated girl educates the next generation. Help provide a college education for girls in rural Morocco.

We have just completed the tandem ride - 1112km from mid-Wales to the Eagles Nest! Then we received the news that we have just been awarded charitable status for 'Education for All Morocco', of which I am a Trustee. Fabulous news to end our fabulous journey. So this is an opportunity for me to raise some funds...here's what we do:

Very few girls from the rural communities in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco get the opportunity to continue their education after primary school. The colleges are not accessible to them because either their parents cannot afford to pay for lodgings, they do not have the confidence in any of the facilities to trust their daughters to be away from their rural communities, and/or the colleges are inaccessible, far away from the rural villages.

EfAM builds boarding houses near to colleges, enabling girls to stay nearby in a secure environment, looked after by a house mother. We opened the first in April 2008, and each girl needs approximately £1000 each year for three years, to enable her to stay here and attend college.

I am hoping to raise enough through our tandem epic to fund at least one girl through her full college education. Thanks for your support!
