Welcome to the EFG Mount Toubkal Team Challenge sponsorship webpage! NEWS UPDATE (posted 3 July 2008): Thank you to everyone who has generously supported us. We are now able to, through your help, build 2 libraries in Nepal, and 1 library in each of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and India. That's a total of 6 libraries - double our original plan! We could only have achieved this through your help and continuing support. Remaining funds received will also go toward sponsoring girls' education in the countries of greatest need. Thank you very much! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From the 18th - 22 April 2008, a team of 8 from EFG Private Bank will be scaling the heights of Mount Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa. At 4167m high, our aim is to challenge ourselves physically and mentally but also to sponsor the building of 3 Reading Rooms - 2 in Nepal and 1 in Vietnam in conjunction with our selected charity, Room to Read. Room to Read works together with local communities throughout developing countries to establish schools, libraries and other educational facilities to children. In the countries in which they work, there is a severe difficulty in accessing books in the poorest communities. To help address this problem, we will be sponsoring the build of child-friendly Reading Rooms in schools and community centres in Nepal and Vietnam. Through those libraries, Room to Read will partner with communities to provide books and other learning materials, train teachers and librarians, and work with schools and community centres to ensure that there is time and space for children to access books regularly. Your contribution will make a significant difference to the lives of the local communities in Nepal and Vietnam.
