Thinking about friends with mental health illness, I  put my name in the 'hat' when my employers announced that they were supporting, the Rethink Mental Illness charity, through the national 3 Peaks challenge.

Statistics confirm that mental health illness is rising with 615 million people globally, suffering from anxiety or depression in 2013. In the UK its one in four people including 10% of children between the ages of 5 and 16.

I expect that unless you are directly impacted by mental health illness, its difficult to appreciate just how debilitating this can be.  I worry about my friends who suffer and feel strongly supportive of the type of services that 'Rethink'  provides to people with mental health illness.

The Rethink Mental Illness charity supports 60,000 people every year through crises with over 200 mental health services and 150 support groups across England.

I am more than a little terrified about the upcoming endeavour but am hoping to gain some donations from friends to help remind me why I am participating.I would welcome any contribution you feel able to make in support of the charity.
