Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. HCPT is a great charity which gives children and adults with disabilities, from all over the country, the opportunity to have an amazing week in France. It gives them a week of joy, laughter and amazing friendship; and also gives their carers at home a well deserved week of respite.
Many people pull a face when I say I go to Lourdes. They think the week is all going to be about religion/Catholicism, quiet contemplation, or serious prayer. And it can be just that for many people if that is what they wish. However, with HCPT, the week is also about making friends, playing games, having fun, lots and lots of singing (not hymns!!!) going to the zoo, visiting the mountain villages, fancy dress parties ....and did I mention the singing????
HCPT take children and adults (from many different religious backgrounds) and give them a truly amazing week away. The carers/helpers who go with them use their own annual leave and pay their own fares, so all money raised goes to the charity. I have been going to Lourdes with HCPT for 11 years now, and believe that this is such a worthwhile way to spend my money and my leave.
This year (2008) I want to do something extra to help HCPT. I am doing a 50K sponsored walk and endeavouring to raise enough money to pay for 2 children to go away at Easter. Please, please help me to achieve my goal.
