Help for Heroes is a new charity formed in 2007 to raise money to support our servicemen and women who have been injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. The charity has a specific objective of raising money to build a swimming pool at Headley Court, the tri-service rehabilitation centre near Leatherhead. The pool will help our service people to do the exercises that are so vital in regaining their strength.
Will you please sponsor me on the Help for Heroes Big Battlefield Bike Ride? This will be a 342 mile bike ride through the battlefields of Normandy, Picardy and the Somme. We will cycle between 52 and 75 miles each day for 5 consecutive days – like cycling from my home to Oxford or Canterbury every day. We set off from HMS Victory in Portsmouth on 26 May 2008. The event concludes with a 20 mile ride from Blackheath through London to the finish at the Cenotaph on Whitehall.
I am under no illusion that for me this will be difficult but I am determined to do what I can to help.
Please sponsor me - every little helps! Thanks to the generosity of so many sponsors, we've reached the minimum £2,000 target I am honour bound to deliver. But our heroes deserve much more, so please keep it coming!
Thank you, sincerely, for whatever help you can give.
