Aspire Channel Swim · 11 June 2009

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I'm taking part in two challenges for Aspire.

Sometime between 3rd and 11th September I'm part of a team of 6 which will swim the Channel - yes, I mean the Channel. I know it'll be cold, probably choppy, certainly mucky, but being part of a team is the only way I'll get to swim the Channel, so I'm going for it!

Then on September 20th I'm attempting to swim 22 miles (the equivalent of the Channel) in one go, in the swimming pool here in Bishop's Castle. Last year (when the photo was taken) I managed 18 and a half miles.

As I've got a spinal injury, plus osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, and use elbow crutches to get around, raising money for Aspire is very important to me. I want to beat last year's total of £2,300!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ASPIRE gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
