An Appeal on Behalf of Me! And People & Planet!

Yes I'm running The Royal Parks Half Marathon.  Bloody sacre bleu!  Luckily I have thought of three good reasons for you to sponsor me:

1.       I am running to support People and Planet – an amazing charity!
P&P is a UK student campaigning organisation working to end world poverty, defend human rights, and protect the environment.   P&P is the largest democratically run student network and its groups all over the country have helped to source great successes in their campaigns.  P&P's award winning universities Green League has made the UK's universities clean up their acts and make real improvements their environmental management and performance.  It is also thanks to lobbying for the P&P network that 72 universities have gained Fairtrade status - the campaign is now being extended to schools and colleges.  P&P is spearheading new campaigns in 2008 to improve conditions for sweat shop workers and to put pressure on the banks which fund fossil fuels.  For more info on the P&P network and campaigns visit peopleandplanet.org

2.       Your donation is really important
P&P is all about educating and empowering student to take effective action on the root causes of social and environmental injustice (former Woodies among you will know how important this is). To get more students active on the issues that count we need your help! 

£5 will cover the cost of producing a Fairtrade schools campaign pack.
£10 covers the cost of staff time for delivering an hour and a half long skills workshop.
£20 will help subsidise the cost of a week of training for a key student activist at the Summer Gathering.
Don't be put off if the £5 plus bracket seems a bit steep in these credit crunch times all donations are very much appreciated.

3.       It's my FIRST EVER race!

If you are able to support P&P by sponsoring me you will be making a massive difference student campaigning for a fairer and greener world.

Your welcome to come down to London to cheer me on/ prop me up afterwards, it should be a good day out with a Food & Fitness Festival in Hyde Park and lots of fun stalls and activities.
