Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the elfmas page.

On December 5th of this year 'Pistol' Peter Holmes, 24, tragically died in a freak hiking accident near Vancouver in Canada. Pistol will be remembered as one of life's achievers and good guys. He always went out of his way to help others, leaving no stone unturned, and had an infectious enthusiasm which he carried with him into every aspect of life. He will be sorely missed by both the athletics and triathlon communities to which he contributed so much.

Pistol had charity at the heart of all of his sporting activities, and raised funds for several notable charities including Cotswald Care Trust and MacMillan. With this in mind, we decided the most fitting way to pay tribute and our respects was to raise abit of cash for charity- and so this page was created.

The charity

Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer by providing practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care. As cancer affects us all Macmillans primary goal is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer.

The event
The Glasgow Indoor Athletics Championships at Kelvinhall International Sports Arena on Wednesday the 30th of December. Here elves of all size, shape, and athletic prowess will don their famous red and green suits and take to the track over a range of distances from 60 - 1200m and the 400/200/100/100 relay. It should be quite a sight.

The elves

The elves first made their 1st appearence in the Loughborough student union in December 2004 as two lonely fast-twitchers with odd foreign accents (well Scottish and Welsh). Since this occassion their number has grown and the annual event of 'elfmas' was born with up to 20 elves seen dancing through the streets of Ayr, Glasgow and as far away from the north pole as Wellington. This year promises to be no different- but this time the elves will be donning their suits for a worthy cause in honour of our dearly departed friend Peter Holmes.
