My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page for Chestnut Tree House. This whole crazy idea started with Michael O'Rourke (Grant's Uncle) who lives in Norway. He has for some time felt the need to cycle the length of the UK and we just couldn't let him do it alone. We hope to complete the 900 miles in 10 days from 1 to 10 June 2012. After completing the Brighton Marathon for Chestnut Tree last year Grant & I felt we were up for taking on this this challenge too. Dave Wells and now Julia Hook too have taken the brave decision to join us so we are five strong. We couldn't do this without fantastic support from friends (Clare Wells), colleagues and family (Bjorg Helene O'Rourke and Susan O'Rourke) both along the way and at home (caring for children and dogs), so thank you all very much. Our fundraising target is ambitious - it is the approximate cost to run Chestnut Tree Childrens Hospice for just one day. I was lucky enough to visit Chestnut Tree Hospice last year and found it the most welcoming, happy and special place with truly amazing staff and facilities. I was overwhelmed to see the work they do and the real difference they make. Please be assured that every penny we raise will be going straight to Chestnut Tree - we are funding all the trip expenses ourselves.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. Thank you from Liz, Mick, Grant, Dave and Julia.
