Hello,

Thank you very much for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page which is accepting donations for The Booke Hospital for Horses and Donkeys. (We have another page which is for Shelter Box.)

This little story tells how we got the idea ...

We - Bev Jenkins, Peta-Jane Field, Trudi Lowndes, Lizzie Matthews and Andrea Simmons - live in West Penwith, Cornwall which is a pretty magical place for riding with its moors, cliffs and beaches. One day, just after the Haitii disaster, we were out on a gentle hack and were chatting about all the really poor places in the world where no-one rides for pleasure and where life - for horses and donkey as well as people - can be very tough. "Hey!" said Lizzie, "Let's ride from John O'Groats to Land's End to raise money to help them!" "Whoa!" we said (and our horses snorted a bit) "What about trying closer to home first!" "I know," said Bev, who knows about these things. "Why don't we ride the Kernow Trail - it runs from the Devon Border to Land's End - and no-one has ridden it yet as it's only just opened!" "Good one," we cried (and our horses snorted in agreement).

So, thanks to some really amazingly kind people who are going have us and our horses to stay overnight en route, we are leaving Horsebridge on Sunday 13 June, and arrive six days later at Land's End on Friday 18 June 2010.

We would welcome fellow horseriders to join us on any sections of the route, if we are passing by your local area.  We are trying to create a website to cover all aspects of our ride, ie showing our route and where we are staying, so bear with us - a link will be inserted as soon as our website is up and running!

In the meantime, be assured that donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe - JustGiving never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to The Brooke Hospital (and/or Shelter Box) and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.  We think this is one of the most efficient way to donate - we will raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Please join us in helping all those horses and donkeys - and people - who are so less fortunate than us - thank you very much.
