A bit about me, my mum and St. Ann's Hospice
In April 2004, my mum was diagnosed with cancer and told without any treatment she had three months left to live. I was 17 studying for my A-Levels and my sister was in her first year at Sheffield University.
Everything happened so fast and it felt like we were just being passed from department to department and hospital to hospital. I remember a nice doctor, "Dr. Paul", managing to get my mum transferred to the Neil Cliffe Centre. I remember sitting in a doctor’s office whilst she explained the various treatments and everything was so positive! My mum even came home for mine and my sister's 18th / 21st birthdays in June!
The centre became like a second home and the staff, atmosphere and attitude there was so encouraging. Where before it felt like my mum was just one patient of so many, now it felt like my mum actually mattered to the staff, they cared and were going to do all they could!
In August, my mum passed away and obviously, we were all devastated. Those of you who are my close friends will have noticed I don't like talking about my mum very often; it upsets me and just hurts too much because I miss her.
The Neil Cliffe Centre is part of St. Ann's Hospice. An independent charity provides support to over 3,000 people every year. £16,000 needs to be raised every day (£8.75 million every year!) so they can support people like my mum and family!
Please support me in trying to raise my target so other people can have the support and help they need just like I did. Donations, fund raising ideas, anything you can offer is appreciated!
Every little helps! Thank you!
