**********************************************

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

************CLICK ON SPONSOR ME NOW************ In order to reach my target and enable me to take part in the event please click the "SPONSOR ME NOW" button. SCOPE requires that I have firm sponsorship before the event takes place. I have contributed £200 from my own purse, and now have £2,600 to raise by September 2006. ************CLICK ON SPONSOR ME NOW************
My training has now started for this amazing event. For the month of September 2005 I cycled 320 miles as part of my ongoing training. Cycling for SCOPE in Cambodia will take me 360 gruelling miles in one week for a worthy cause - to raise awareness and help disabled adults and children achieve equality. Your sponsorship will go towards buying essential equipment and services: £4.50 will buy a can opener to make it easier to prepare meals independently. £6 an adapted potato peeler £36 could enable a fieldworker to support a family for one month. £40 A half-hour physiotherapy session - this could allow a child to pick up a spoon and learn how to feed themselves. £60 A single chin switch that operates equipment such as an electric wheelchair or computer. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Scope will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please SPONSOR ME NOW and help raise awareness - it's time to get equal! ************CLICK ON SPONSOR ME NOW************ Sponsorship goes directly to SCOPE. If you wish to see my itinerary please feel free to contact me. Many thanks for your support. I will keep you updated with my training and fundraising efforts. ************CLICK ON SPONSOR ME NOW************ 7th October 2005: Thanks to all my online sponsors for showing support. I'll be doing a cycling trek this sunday as part of my training and I'll publish my stats at the end of each month. 8th October 2005: Fundraising session at the Savacentre raised £86.37. 16th October 2005: A horrendous week milage wise on the bike. Didn't even manage my weekly long ride today - so I have to get back on track as soon as possible. The good news? A book that I released for a bookcrossing contribution has been found - and now the book is in Italy! Stay posted for more details on my fundraising. 7th November 2005: A horrendous October month in terms of training miles. But great work outs at the gym continue to improve my stamina. A visit stateside for a week at the end of the month cut my gym time - but didn't stop me from working out and walking miles. The start of November - and I've got my new bike A Trek Pilot 1.2 - an awesome dream-piece. I'm to release two books tonight for my latest two bookcrossing contributors (sorry it took me so long guys!). More Fundrasing Fun: A wonderful opportunity has come my way. I'm to organise the Christmas Ball at my place of employment. The event is for 400 people, and I've got the ball rolling! The venue is booked, the DJ is hired, the food is organised and the bouncers will be on the door! If it's a success (and it is every year) I should hit my target by the end of December. Keep your fingers crossed that I can organise this and pull it off! What Fun!! *****************************
11th December 2005: And I don't even know how many miles I did last month! But I did train, work outs at the gym, training on my bike and generally trying to keep myself going with the winter months coming on. The Christmas Ball and organising/selling tickets is coming along nicely. I'm hoping to start clocking my miles for my indoor training as soon as Christmas passes and I can buy a "clocking miles" device. Things are looking great!

21st December 2005: The Night of The Christmas Ball! This evening I'm hosting a ball for 300 people. I'm estimating the profits to be £900.  But I'm not counting until the night is over.  Hopefully, I'll be collecting kisses for £1 a peck - but I'll do that after a few drinks.  A few of the girls at the office have given some money towards my trek instead of giving me a Christmas card. Thanks girls! Between the four of you I got £20.76! More later, I'm off to the ball!

23rd December 2005: I managed to raise £798 from the Charity Ball! I have another £72 to come at the start of January. WOW, the event made a serious dent towards my target. The evening itself was a HUGE Success. Thank you all for making such a huge effort to support me.
23rd December 2005: Thanks Jeff for your donation! Yer a cool dude, Merry Christmas!

2006:

2nd January 2006: Well, well, well. My total miles for the month of December was 160. Disgusting! Okay, maybe not because it was Christmas. But I did a lot of miles on foot, shopping hehe! I've decided I don't like spinning, but I do enjoy running on a tredmill and lifting weights. I don't go over the top with it. And I DO have to be careful because I know on the trek itself I'm going to lose some pounds. So I don't want to end up looking like a a stick. For now, I've deleted my blogs and I'm revamping everything. I want to make my blog more cyclist friendly. That means routes and maps of where I go and cycle, stats on a monthly basis (or perhaps weekly.) and a cycling mantra that I found that's totally awesome. As for my photography blog, no way will I give that up! But silly me I tried to revamp it and use photoblogging software. (Note to self: No, No, No Leigh, remember how fussy you are - go back to your designer!) I'm looking forward to 2006 and my intense training program. Starting from this month. Let the good weather return! I love cycling outside in my thermals. I wish someone would invent windscreen wipers for glasses! A toast to 2006 - to cycling - to training - and to clips that don't make me fall off my bike!

September 2006:  After lots of fundraising and lots of effort on my behalf to meet my September target.  I can now proudly say that I have have banked £2113!!

Thats £2113 whihc includes gift aid and for some strange reason doesn't appear on this page!

I'm ALMOST there!  And that's to all the have made contributions and sent me well wishes:

I have until November 11th of get ready.  I continue cycling almost daily.  And I have enjoyed a summer filled with long and extended cycling days.  My most memorable having taken part in the London to Cambridge cycling event.  And a 30 mile cycling trek in Florida.  I know 30 miles seems like nothing, but I experienced cycling that day in high temperatures, and I got a taste of what's to come!

For now, my mains goals are to carry on with my training, and to raise the last £400 pounds, if not more!

Goal reached September 2006.  £2113!!!!! November 8th: Just waiting for a final pledge to come through and I'll hit my target! Thank you to everyone that has contributed! As a group of 35 people we have raised £92,000. See you all when I get back - hopefully in one piece!
