Plod for Parkinson's · 1 September 2019

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

I’m walking across Sicily, from Palermo to Agrigento in the Sicilian September heat!

Even though most of you know me as a pretty lazy, inactive person, I have taken on this challenge to raise money for Parkinson’s UK in order to help anyone who has Parkinson's. With our help, Parkinson's can become a thing of the past.

Flora will join me on the walk, and together we will plod across Sicily for nine days, walking over 180 kms over mountains, through valleys and along ancient paths.

As a person who used to complain about walking to the pub just a few fields’ away this is certainly out of my comfort zone. However it has been on my mind for a few years now and I am excited and nervous in equal measure that we are finally doing this walk.

You can follow us on Instagram - I imagine there will be lots of sweaty and tired photos that will be published - and see how we get along during the preparations and the actual walk itself. You can find us at @parkinsons_psp_plod

Please feel free to donate to Parkinsons’s UK here. Anything is hugely appreciated.

And if following this walk inspires you to visit Sicily, come and say hi in Palermo!

Grazie mille!
