My name is Ellie Othick-Bowmaker and I will be 13 on September 8th. In March 2007 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour and had a 7+ hour operation to remove it. The generous people of Scarborough (& others nationwide) raised £4000 for my family and I - to have a family holiday, and the money has also paid for me to have regular reflexology.
I would now like to give something back – I would like to match what was raised for me - £4000, for 4 charities that have touched my life. £1000 each to CLAPA, who have supported my little sister so much; CLIC sargent, Make a Dream, and the children’s radiotherapy unit at St James’, Leeds.
3 friends and I are doing 3 events to raise this money. A sponsored bike ride round Scarborough’s Marine Drive to the Spa complex (both ways), a bun bake (how many will we make in 6 hours?!) and a head shave.
The bike ride is in the morning of September 28th - please watch this space for more details - times, meeting place etc.... We will meet on Marine Drive, opposite the Oasis cafe between 8 & 8-30am, in time to register before we set off at 9am. We will shave your head at Dare hair salon, Castle Road, Scarborough on Sunday 28th September between 2pm and 5pm – and a qualified hairdresser will ensure that you get a ‘smooth’ cut! Just turn up!
