South Downs Walk for 'GRACE' · 1 April 2011

GRACE is dedicated to improving the treatment, recovery, and survival rates of women diagnosed gynaecological cancers and to providing local hospitals with vital surgical equipment. Your support directly helps the women around us – our mums, sisters, grandmothers, daughters and friends.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In order to raise money and awareness for GRACE (Gynae-oncology Research And Clinical Excellence), I HAVE WALKED 100 MILES ALONG THE SOUTH DOWNS WAY with the help of my family and friends, from Eastbourne to Winchester, completed on 8th May 2011. It took me ten arduous days. It was joyous, it was at times painful, but always rewarding and deeply satisfying to reach Winchester! It was worth the effort to have raised, so far, £3400.00! Please swell this further - it is not too late. It is a worthwhile cause.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. So please dig deep and donate now.

My reasons for raising funds for 'GRACE', are that St Luke's Centre at Guildford saved my life when I was diagnosed with Peritoneal and Ovarian cancer, and that many others are unlucky in that their gynaecological cancer was not diagnosed soon enough. We need to raise awareness of this silent killer in order to save more women's lives with earlier diagnosis so that the necessary life-saving treatment can be started.

Thanks very much you for your help.

Elsena

ps Shortly after my 100 mile SDW Walk, I was diagnosed with Liver secondaries and have just completed yet another course of chemotherapy. Fortunately I am in remission again and hope to raise more money for GRACE by planning and carrying out another challenge! Perhaps I will walk from Winchester to Eastbourne this time - WATCH THIS SPACE!

For further details of my history, and my charity walk, go to my blog: www.elsenasblog.blogspot.com
