Virgin London Marathon 2013 · 21 April 2013 ·

Since 1885, thanks to the public's support, we continue to provide welfare and wellbeing assistance tailored to our Armed Forces community. We know and understand the unique demands of service life, whether in the UK or overseas, and in times of need, we help to enable the Forces family to thrive.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My Mum has been working as a SSAFA volunteer for years, and as I am a serving Parachute Regiment Officer the charity is very close to my heart.  For those that don't know, SSAFA is a charity that looks after servicemen and women, and their families, if they fall on hard times after leaving the forces.

To that end my girlfriend Emily and I decided it would be a great idea if we ran the London Marathon together, raising as much money as we can for SSAFA along the way.

Unfortunately Emily had to have an operation on her feet which means she is now unable to run, but she beasted me through most of the training and will be there to cheer me on.

This will be my first marathon and as such I have been following a rigourous training regime, sweatingt blood and tears to achieve the best time possible.  In addition, I'm going to go for the 'Fastest Marathon with a 40lb rucksack' which currently stands at 4:01:17.

Any support you can give would be great.  Your donation will go towards a deserving cause: someone who has served their country but now needs a little bit of our help in return.
