My story

Hi, My name is Dani Wilde,

Thank - you for visiting our fundraising page!

We are seeking as many donations as possible.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to donate money to help the children at County Primary School and Toto Love Orphanage, in the slums of Embu in Kenya: Moving Mountains gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please contribute your donation now!

I started fundraising for County Primary School in Embu, Kenya in 2007 whilst I was completing my Music Degree.

Since then, helping the school has become a family project. In September 2008 and 2009, Myself, my Dad (Chris Wilde), my Mum, and my Brother  'Will' all visited the school together.

We really enjoyed seeing the children enjoy the benefits of the money we had raised: art materials, musical instruments, pens, paper, books, running water, footballs, and a basketball court.

During our time in Kenya we also organised a 'Fun-day' for County Primary School where the children had the opportunity to perform the songs that Will had taught them on Harmonica, as well as performing vocally, on recorders, and tribal dancing.

Fun-day included professional performers coming to the school to entertain the children: Gymnasts, Clowns, a DJ, and also bouncy castles and trampolines were hired for the children to play on. At lunch time on fun-day each of the 900 children at the school was given a meal with some fruit and a fizzy drink. Both Funday 2008 and 2009 were an experience my family and the children will never forget and we hope to do this again 2010.

Despite enjoying our time in the country, it was also a very upsetting experience. We got to see first hand the slums where these children live and the awful standard of living they have to endure. School is the highlight of their week and a good education is their only chance of making a better life for themselves. This is why we really need and appreciate your help.

In 2009 we also had the pleasure of meeting 11 of the fantastic children at Toto Love Orphanage for children with HIV in Embu. The children were all little angels and its horrible to think that their lives will be taken from them by aids, most likely before they reach adulthood. Giving them a happy childhood is very important and we spent funds in 2009 on taking them out on a day trip. In 2010 we hope to take them on Safari where they can learn about the animals, see outside of Embu, and camp out singing songs around the campfire in the evening. We hope to make the trip feel magical for them!

We will ensure evey penny donated is put to maximum use to help improve conditions at the school and benefit the lives of the orphans.

We really appreciate your generosity!

All our love,

Dani Wilde, Chris Wilde, Jan Wilde and Will Wilde.
