"My name is Lucas Johnston and I’m hoping that you can help me fulfil a dream…..

I have just had my first birthday, but when my mother was 20 weeks pregnant with me and my twin brother, I was diagnosed as having a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot.  Over the last year I have had quite a tricky journey including two major operations, one of which required by-pass surgery to successfully correct the four things that were wrong with my heart and saved my life.

As a demonstration of my families massive appreciation of the efforts of the Evelina Children’s Hospital my parents have asked 30 friends to do the London to Brighton bike ride on Sunday 15th June to raise money for equipment for a new cardiac intensive care bed, just like the one that helped me recover after both operations.  More beds, more operations, more kids like me have the chance to have a full and healthy life – it’s as simple as that.
