The Confraternity exists to advance the education of the public in all aspects of the pilgrimage to Saint James of Compostela in north-west Spain, including its history, art, architecture and music. It now has the opportunity to restore and maintain another much needed refuge offering hospitality and accommodation to pilgrims.

Story

Please help me preserve medieval art! I am walking 500km of the pilgrimage Road of St. James this September. In the spirit of this mission, I am hoping to raise money for the Confraternity of St. James, a charity that cares for the art and architecture on the pilgrimage road. ALL donations will go to this charity. My pilgrimage intentions are primarily educational: I want to understand how devotional art directed the pilgrims' visual experience. I will explore dozens of churches full of relic-shrines and document their veneration for my research. After one thousand years and millions of visitors, the precious decorative art in some of these holy sites is desperate need of caring restoration. These beautiful but delicate churches, paintings, reliquaries, and sculptures should be preserved- and you can help! Any donation would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.
