<p>Virgin Active Triathlon, 30th July 2011</p> <p>As some of you know I was asked by a friend to enroll in a triathlon.&nbsp; Not one to shy away from challenges I agreed, little did I know though (as I had never competed in anything like this before), that she was in fact&nbsp;signing us up to the Worlds largest triathlon event!!!&nbsp; And little did we all know that this friend would have to bail out of competing (due to unforeseen circumstances), leaving me to train and compete&nbsp;on my own!&nbsp; Brilliant.....thanks Georgie!!! ;0)</p> <p>Anyway after getting over the shock of finding out the triathlon consists of a 750m swim in the Docks of the Thames, a 20km bike ride round London and a 5k run (though I suspect this will be a crawl on my part), I looked to find a charity to help raise money for.&nbsp; My chosen charity is one called Bite-Back.&nbsp; Bite-Back is an influential and pioneering shark and marine conservation organisation with a mission to halt the trade and consumption of vulnerable fish species, promote sustainable fishing, protect ocean habitats and inspire worldwide respect for the marine environment.</p> <p>Your donation and support will make have a huge impact to this charity and will help to ensure that it continues its mission to protect and conserve our invaluable marine environment.&nbsp; Take a look at their website <a href="http://www.bite-back.com/">www.bite-back.com</a> and see for yourself just how many millions of sharks have been slaughtered already this year!&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Training for this event hasnt been easy, and taking part is going to be a huge challenge for me, so I hope you'll dig deep and help spur me on by raising money for this amazing charity.&nbsp; Any amount is very much appreciated.</p> <p>Thank you!</p> <p>Emily Maher</p> <p><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/emilymaheruk">www.flickr.com/photos/emilymaheruk</a></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
