About my charity : Whale And Dolphin Conservation Society Whale And Dolphin Conservation Society
WDCS, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society is the global voice for the protection of whales, dolphins and their environment. WDCS works to prevent the suffering of whales and dolphins (cetaceans) in captivity, to stop their deliberate killing and to end tragic deaths from pollution or entanglement in fishing nets. Get active with WDCS and make that difference. You can help in so many ways. Adopt a dolphin, follow the WDCS boat users code of conduct when around cetaceans, make a donation or report your cetacean sightings online!

My personal message:

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. Recently, you may have seen reports in the news about dolphin drive hunts. I personally found them horrific and unnecessary.

Dolphin ‘drive’ hunts, also known as the ‘drive fisheries’, occur annually from September through April of each year in the coastal towns of Taiji and Futo in Japan.  During these hunts, dolphins are encircled by motor-boats out at sea and are then chased and corralled into shallow waters where they are trapped with nets and then killed or hauled off live to be sold into captivity. Every aspect of the hunt is extremely cruel, from the exhausting drive from the open ocean that can separate mothers and calves and other family groups, to confinement in a netted cove where the dolphins are crudely slaughtered with spears and knives.  Killed for their meat, or because they are considered pests in competition for fishery resources, the dolphins are often held for days before slaughter.  Some of the dolphins are selected alive for sale to local and national marine parks.

WDCS is a charity that works towards protecting against the suffering of whales and dolphins, and I'd like to support them in their work.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Whale And Dolphin Conservation Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
