Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I had already decided to do the London Marathon and having entered 4 times in previous years was excited to receive the 'accepted' magazine through the post! My Dad had also got in, so we were both looking forward to the training ahead & the challenge of getting around the course. It is my first marathon & Dad's 6th!
In mid October 2010 my God Mother, Alison Bellamy was diagnosed at the age of just 49 with lung cancer , she sadly died less than 4 weeks later. Throughout her illness the Macmillan nurses were fantastic, giving her & those closest to her support & advice.
They were also a great support when both of my Grandfathers were diagnosed & ill with cancer several years ago.
I wanted to make my marathon effort worth while and I intend to raise as much money as possible to help the loved ones of others.
To give you a rough idea of how every penny helps:
£10 could help pay for 20 copies of 'the cancer guide' which can help someone recently diagnosed with cancer, and their families to understand cancer, its treatment & the help available.
£24 could pay for a Macmillan physiotherapist for an hour.
£350 could pay for a much needed convalescent break for someone with cancer & their carer.
So please dig deep
Em & David
