Story
On Sunday the 3rd of September 2006, I will be taking part in the Great Scottish Run 10km. I will be running on behalf of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a registered charity which carefully selects and trains dogs to help severely and profoundly deaf people by alerting them to sounds such as the doorbell, telephone, cooker timer and smoke alarm - sounds that many hearing people take for granted. Seventy-five percent of the dogs trained come to the charity from animal rescue centres and as unwanted pets. The waiting list for dogs is currently between 12-18 months. With your support Hearing Dogs for Deaf People will be able to train more dogs and hope to place 150 hearing dogs this year. Your generous support will help hundreds of deaf people lead an independent life with confidence.
