Fundraising for Norwood
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Thank you very much for your support - I can’t guarantee a fast time but I can guarantee I will do whatever it takes to complete the marathon however long it takes me!!! For the past couple of years I have been working as a physiotherapist at the London Marathon. And as I watched and treated the thousands of overweight, unfit athletes run, walk and crawl the 26 and a quarter miles, I thought to myself – if they can do it, so can I. When the opportunity to raise money for a great charity like Norwood arose, I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to put myself through a bit (a lot actually) of pain by running the London Marathon this April. It was a big decision seeing as putting your body through so much punishment is exactly what I tell my patients to avoid! For those of you that don’t know, Norwood is a fantastic charity which provides services and a range of support to people with learning disabilities and children and families in need and I am honoured to be able to run for them this year. I have always had a personal attachment to Norwood as my Mum has worked for them for many years always bringing back stories on the amazing work that they do and myself seeing first hand the high level of care that my cousin Andrew received when living in a Norwood Residential home. On this note, I would be very grateful if you would support me through the pain and suffering that I am going to be putting myself through in the next few months. It will certainly make it a lot easier to get through the 26 miles knowing that I am doing it for a good cause. Emma x x x
