Story

Mission accomplished!!

Yesterday I completed the London Marathon in 5 hrs 1 min and I'm very happy!! What an incredible and uplifting experience it was, the crowd were amazing and the route basked in glorious sunshine was spectacular.

Thank you everyone for your support and well wishes - and for helping me smash my fundraising target - it really is appreciated.

Looking for my next challenge =)

Sunday 14th April - 7 DAYS TO GO!

**Increased my target to £1000 - hopefully I can still surpass this!!** Thanks for everyones support to date!!

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page!

As some of you may know, I will be attempting to run the London Marathon this year! Being able to complete a marathon has been something I have always wanted to do and so I was really lucky to secure a place through the ballot.

Until a few days ago, I was doubtful of being able to take part due to injury, but I've now got the all clear and I'm determined to get round the course!

Having considered a number of charitable causes I have decided to run for the international humanitarian organisation ACF International | Action Against Hunger.

Why ACF International | Action Against Hunger?

Those who know me will know that I am passionate about food – whether that be sampling the newest openings, tucking into a meal cooked by my parents, cooking dinner at home, reading food blogs, photographing my food, watching MasterChef or simply browsing the supermarket aisles – food is definitely an important aspect of my life!

While I am fortunate enough to have the freedom and option of pretty much eating what I want, when I want, it’s something we all take for granted and there are many people around the world who don’t have this luxury.

This year on the 22nd April, 45 of the best chefs all around the world will cook at a gala dinner in London. I was eager to sign up but quickly put off by the £650 price tag! But then I found out they will be raising money for Action Against Hunger and learnt more about what this charity do in the process.

While I can’t afford the £650 a head price tag, my wish is to raise £650 through charitable donations instead

What do ACF International | Action Against Hunger do?

The mission of Action Against Hunger is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, especially during and after emergency situations of conflict, war and natural disaster. Their program areas are: nutrition, water and sanitation, food security, health, and advocacy.

Every year, 5,200+ field workers help over 7 million people in over 45 countries worldwide and in addition to their work on nutrition, food security, and emergency relief, Action Against Hunger teaches people how to plant crops and gardens that are drought resistant.

‘Love Food Give Food’ is the organisation’s annual fundraising appeal, which sees the charity working with food companies throughout the UK. Top chefs, resturants and foodies come together to take action against child hunger. (http://www.lovefoodgivefood.org)

I hope you will be able to support me in my fundraising efforts - your kind donations will be really appreciated.

I hope to see some of you around the course on the 21st April!!
